On-Going Educational Programs
The Student Villages in Rehavia and Nachlaot / City Center
Tene Yerushalmi’s “Student Village” program combines study sessions on activism, getting to know the city of Jerusalem, building a student community and joint social action.
HaMechina HaYerushalmi – a pre-military academy (“mechina”) for leadership and society
The Mechina, founded in 2010 accomodates 60 high school graduates per year who are pre-military service and who are interested in leading and influencing Israeli society. The program is a one-time opportunity to gain a broad understanding of society, in all its complexities, and the city of Jerusalem (which is a micro-cosmos for Israeli society). The Mechina emphasizes the values of community, social action and learning. Furthermore, it builds personal development through shaping a personal identity, mental preparation for a meaningful military service and a variety of guided experiences in planning and self-management. The deep connection to Tene Yerushalmi, the affinity to Jerusalem and the urge to take an active stand, does not end with the Mechina. Rather, it continues through the activities of the extensive alumni network.
Igra – a roof for community and culture for pluralistic young people in Jerusalem
In 2024 we founded Igra – a home for community and culture in the heart of Jerusalem. Igra is a unique complex that combines community-based student housing with a lively, liberal cultural center. It is a place where young people meet, live and act together, creating a living, breathing community. Cultural and social activities include salsa nights, master classes, lectures, parties and workshops.
The “Tana Yerushalim” scholarship program for students
The “Tana Yerushalmi” scholarship program is special in the combinations and connections it offers. Study sessions, social activities, getting to know Israeli society, and making connections and working together within the group of male and female male students.
